In the summer of 2003 I took it
easy and also veered from the program a bit. I took Applications
of Database Software, I learned Microsoft Access. However,
I was preparing myself for the following semester.
In the fall of 2003 I studied Web Database Development.
This is where my knowledge of MS Access came in handy. Although
we never integrated a database into a Web site, I learned
the architecture, concepts, design approaches and designed
one on paper. Again, I needed to satisfy my creative side
by enrolling in Intermediate Graphic Design. This also
concentrated on design for print and layout purposes. I used
both Photoshop and QuarkExpess on my projects. This was enough
to receive the Certificate in Web Site Development,
which I did. But why stop there? I had other goals to reach
so I continued on.

In the spring of 2004 I had two
additional goals. The first, an Associates Degree in
Web Site Development and an Intermediate Certificate
in Web Site Applications. I decided to take the Media
Arts Practicum. This was only required for the Bachelors
Degree but I decided to take it anyway. I thought it was time
to get real world experience. This is when I did my internship
at Tulane University. I learned a lot there, I saw how the
team worked together and how a large organization worked.
I also enrolled in Designing Web sites, because I wanted
to!
From the fall of 2004 to the summer of 2006 I took the required
core classes for the Associate’s Degree and a couple
more for the additional certificate.
